How to Keep the Summertime Living Easy

Like Lana, have you ever gotten that summertime sadness? We can think of nothing worse than battling the sniffles when you should be catching some rays. With a stressful work week (and an even busier weekend), your body is bound to take a hit. So what’s a girl to do? Try to consider these six tips that can wreck a cold before it wrecks you.

  1. Get a massage! Sure, they’re prime for a girls’ weekend, but studies have shown that massages can do much more. Any sort of rubdown can lower blood pressure, anxiety, and stress—which ultimately builds up immunity.
  2. Take a cold shower. We know what you’re going to say…Intolerable as they may seem, a cold rinse can actually aid with migraines, circulation, low energy, and pain reduction. Heck, they may even come to be refreshing.
  3. Eat Ginger. Researchers contribute this root to doing wonders for improving intestinal muscle tone and digestion. Whether mixed in juice or eaten straight up, fresh ginger has been found to be most effective.
  4. Washing Your Hands. Although quite obvious, this is the number one way to dodge the common cold. With soap and warm water, scrub all parts of your hands (and wrists!) for at least 20 seconds.
  5. Take Vitamin C. Consuming some C has been proven to be the miracle vitamin for cold prevention. According to some physicians, taking 500 milligrams of vitamin C a day can help stop a cold in its tracks.
  6. Eat More Garlic. This herb has the reputation to boost immunity and fight inflammation. Even more, researchers say it could potentially improve heart health while preventing cancer. With a long list of benefits, just be sure to keep a pack of breath mints handy!
